ARLINGTON - Judging from my scouting report, between what the Rangers and Tigers scraped up Wednesday, we almost had a starting nine. Almost. Trust me, this was less a reflection of typical get-away lineups than a preview of your summer viewing.
The good news is Nomar Mazara and Delino DeShields show signs lately of growing into larger roles, especially in the absence of their elders, who notice these things.
"Under the circumstances, they need to do this," Elvis Andrus said. "There's no other way to go."
True, and now for the really bad news: The Rangers don't have enough feel-good stories like the couple in the second paragraph.
