SURPRISE, Ariz. - Usually, the Rangers wait until the season starts to scramble for a closer.
Give them credit for getting a head start this year.
When the Rangers broke off negotiations Saturday with free agent right-hander Seung Hwan Oh over an issue on his physical, the team that has changed closers after the season started in each of manager Jeff Banister's three years was right back to searching internally for a solution.
"The goal is to leave here with the idea that this is the guy," Banister said Sunday when asked if he would consider going with no definitive closer and instead use multiple guys to do the job.
