The Texas Rangers are reportedly hiring Chicago Cubs assistant general manager Shiraz Rehman to a similar position in the Rangers’ front office, per multiple reports. Rehman is an MBA who originally worked for Theo Epstein as an intern with the Boston Red Sox, joined the Arizona Diamondbacks front office about twelve years ago, and has been with the Cubs since Theo Epstein and Jed Hoyer took over the reins at the end of 2011 as their assistant general manager for strategic initiatives.
Rehman, a graduate of McGill University in Canada, has reportedly headed up the Cubs’ analytics initiatives, and is expected to have a similar role in Texas.
