The biggest winners and losers of Rangers spring training

WINNERS

Strike throwing: If there was a common them to the Rangers' offseason pitching moves, it was an emphasis on guys who were strike-throwers. The Rangers wanted to cut down on walks. And that has carried over through spring training. The Rangers entered the final game in Arizona averaging 2.74 walks per nine innings, down nearly a full walk per game over last spring. You might not be able to evaluate much in spring training that will carry over to the regular season, but a strike in spring is a strike in the regular season.
