The Texas Rangers don’t have an affiliate in the rookie Pioneer League, but they still ended up with a prospect making the Baseball America Top 20 prospect list for the league, as Pedro Gonzalez, the outfielder they acquired from the Rockies in the Jonathan Lucroy trade, checks in at #7 on the list from his time in the Colorado organization.
The 19 year old Gonzalez is an intriguing prospect, a tall, skinny (6’5”, 190 lb) righthanded hitting centerfielder who was a big money signing out of Latin America a few years back, a guy with tools who has started to translate them into skills.
