Texas Rangers transactions: Juan Centeno, the catcher who the Texas Rangers designated for assignment last week when they added newly claimed catcher Carlos Perez to the active roster, has cleared waivers and has accepted an outright assignment to AAA Round Rock, the team announced today. Centeno had the right to refuse an outright assignment.
Currently, the Rangers’ catchers at AAA are Cameron Rupp and Shaq Matta, with Tony Sanchez on the disabled list. Presumably, Centeno and Rupp will share catching duties for the time being. When Sanchez is healthy, the Rangers will have a decision to make about who to hang onto.
