According to T.R. Sullivan, the Texas Rangers have reached an agreement with veteran left-handed pitcher Jon Niese. He is signed to a one-year Minor League deal with an invite to Spring Training.
The 31-year-old did not pitch in the Major Leagues last season, but has been signed as depth. The Rangers have now increased their Spring Training roster to 62. They must cut that down to only 25 players before Opening Day.
During his nine-year career Niese is 69-68 with a 4.07 ERA in 211 games (197 starts) between two organizations.
