Texas Rangers sign Trevor Plouffe to minor league deal

The Texas Rangers and third baseman Trevor Plouffe have agreed on a deal for a minor league contract, presumably with an invite to spring training, per reports on Twitter.

Plouffe, 31, split last season between the Oakland A's and the Tampa Bay Rays, and didn't hit at either spot, putting up a .198/.272/.328 slash line between the two teams in 313 plate appearances. Prior to 2017, Plouffe had spent his career with the Minnesota Twins, who drafted him in the first round of the 2004 draft. He had a nice run of being a productive third baseman for the Twins for several years before signing with Oakland for his ill-fated 2017 season.
