The Texas Rangers have reportedly signed outfielder-turned-pitcher Anthony Gose to a minor-league deal, according to Anthony Fenech. It’s an interesting signing and it’s still unclear what his role will be with the organization.
He’ll join James Jones and Jario Beras as former hitters turned pitchers in Texas. Jones was acquired in the Leonys Martin deal. He was converted into a pitcher, but tore his UCL and needed Tommy John surgery. He’s reportedly back on the mound now, so we could see him next season.
The 22-year-old Beras is still working his way through the lower levels in the minors.
