MINNEAPOLIS - What a two-week stretch it's been for Rangers prospect Yohander Mendez. One week, he was promoted from Triple-A to the big-league starting rotation and promised an extended look. The next, he's sent all the way back to Class A.
The mysterious case of What Happens After Dark in Kansas City took another twist Friday when the club decided that Mendez, already demoted for violating team rules Monday evening, needed a more dramatic change. He will go to Class A Down East to help "strengthen his foundation."
"The plan is all about building a solid routine on and off the field," Rangers assistant general manager Jayce Tingler said.
