After a difficult 2020 season, the Texas Rangers were rewarded with their highest MLB Draft pick since selecting pitcher Tommy Boggs second overall in 1974.
For as poor as things have gone throughout the history of this franchise, Texas hasn’t really picked extremely high in the Draft very often. Since moving to Texas in 1972, the Rangers have picked in the top 5 just eight times total.
Tonight, the Rangers had their ninth opportunity at the best talent and selected famed RHP Jack Leiter out of Vanderbilt University with the second overall selection in the 2021 MLB Draft.
