With their fourth round pick in the 2020 MLB Draft, the Texas Rangers have picked Oregon prep lefthanded pitcher Dylan MacLean.
MacLean, like third round pick T.K. Roby, was seen as a guy whose stock was on the rise this spring. He didn’t get to pitch his senior season due to the cancellation of a high school baseball season that starts later in Oregon than in warm weather areas.
MacLean garnered praise for his ability to command his fastball and for a high spin rate curveball coming into 2020, but a jump in velocity in workouts — he was touching 92, after throwing in the upper-80s before — got him more attention.
