Texas Rangers rumors: Elvis Andrus will not opt out of his contract and become an MLB free agent, according to Jon Heyman on Twitter. Elvis has 4 years and $58 million remaining on the 8 year, $120 million extension he signed five and a half years ago.
This isn’t a surprise, as indications for a while have been that Elvis wouldn’t exercise the opt-out, and he has consistently said that he wants to spend his entire career in Texas. At this point last year, it appeared likely that the opt-out would be exercised, given that he was coming off two very strong offensive seasons, and appeared well-positioned to get a raise.
