First baseman Ronald Guzman is one of the Texas Rangers sprinting out of the gates this spring. Playing in four of the team’s six games, he’s 4 for 8 with 2 home runs and 3 RBI. He’s also touched the plate 4 times and struck out just once.
Guzman’s first homer was off Cubs’ right-hander Alec Mills, and his second homer was against Angels’ left-hander Tyler Skaggs. He may never face Mills again, but you best believe he’ll see Skaggs a number of times just in 2019.
Spring numbers can be misleading, and there are many more games to be played before opening day; however, the Rangers must love what they’re seeing from Guzman.
