Texas Rangers transactions: Joe Palumbo has been officially recalled from AAA Nashville, the Rangers announced today. The lefthanded pitcher had been on the AAA injured list due to a blister that developed on his thumb in his last outing, on August 20 for the Rangers. He had been optioned after that game and placed on the AAA injured list. As we are in the September expanded roster period, no corresponding move was necessary.
Palumbo was expected to be in the Rangers’ rotation over the final six weeks of the season, beginning with the August 20 start in Game 1 of a doubleheader against the Angels, but he developed a blister on his thumb in that start and has been sidelined ever since.
