Texas Rangers transactions: Brett Martin has been officially recalled from AAA Nashville, the team announced today. Martin is taking the place of Kyle Bird, who was optioned after the game on Wednesday, on the active roster.
As we discussed yesterday when Bird was sent down, Martin appeared to be the likely pick to replace him on the active roster. The 23 year old lefthander was a camp sensation, garnering rave reviews this spring after having a dismal 2018 season in Frisco. Martin appears to have taken to a reliever role after struggling as a starting pitcher, and after being a late cut in camp, he’s allowed just 1 run in 8 innings of work for Nashville.
