According to ESPN, Perez suffered an injury to his non-throwing hand in the team’s hotel. Apparently, the nail on his right thumb tore off when he rammed his hand into the door of his room when it apparently jammed. It’s not only the nail, but also the tip of the bone in his thumb was fractured in the process. Even though the injury is not very serious, the Texas Rangers are not taking any chances.
MLB.com reports that Perez is unable to put on a glove on his injured hand and Perez, himself, stated he can’t do anything with his injured hand.
