The Texas Rangers major league coaching staff for 2019 is now in place, as the team has announced that Callix Crabbe has been hired as the team’s assistant hitting coach, and Oscar Marin has been hired as the team’s bullpen coach. They are joining manager Chris Woodward, bench coach Don Wakamatsu, pitching coach Julio Rangel, first base coach Hector Ortiz, third base coach Tony Beasley, hitting coach Luis Ortiz, and player development field coordinator Jayce Tingler.
Crabbe, 35, is a native of the Virgin Islands who was a Rule 5 pick of the San Diego Padres prior to the 2008 season, and who appeared in 21 games that year for the Padres in the first six weeks of the season before being returned to his original team, the Milwaukee Brewers.
