Texas Rangers claim Rollins, designate Jenkins for assignment

The Texas Rangers have claimed lefthanded pitcher David Rollins on waivers from the Philadelphia Phillies. To make room on the 40 man roster for Rollins, the Rangers have designated pitcher Tyrell Jenkins for assignment.

The decision to DFA Jenkins is striking, since he was just obtained from the Atlanta Braves in a deal for Luke Jackson, and was supposed to represent starting pitching depth for Texas. The Rangers are obviously trying to outright him off their roster, but if he gets claimed, the Rangers will have nothing to show for dealing Jackson except a 26 year old lefty reliever who has missed basically two years due to surgery.
