The Texas Rangers handed the ball to Cesar Ramos last night as he made a spot start filling in for the injured Cole Hamels. Ramos did more than what was expected of him going 6 innings against the Yankees, surrendering three earned runs on nine hits. Ramos pitched well and put the Rangers in a position to win the game and striking out five hitters on the night. Despite this, run production was not there causing Ramos to take the loss in his first decision of the season.
The bullpen threw three pitchers who all put up scoreless appearances.
