It is time for the winter meetings, when Rangers general manager Jon Daniels must grapple with trade and free agency decisions, be willing to butt heads with his competitors and colleagues and go to the mat to try to make a deal.
On at least one occasion, literally.
This is not a story so much about what will happen at the winter meetings in Las Vegas, which begin Sunday at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino, partly because the Rangers aren't expected to do a whole lot. The Rangers are in a reorganization mode and will play toward the bottom of the free agent market, while gauging more accurately the trade market for some of their arbitration-eligible players such as Jurickson Profar and perhaps Nomar Mazara.
