Rangers starter Chi Chi Gonzalez got three ground-ball outs on 10 pitches in a scoreless first inning. He could not get out of the second. Venezuela opened the inning with six consecutive hits, including a lead-off homer by Carlos Gonzalez, mostly against fastballs. Chi Chi Gonzalez got one out in the second and allowed more hits (six) than he had in his previous six innings.
