the Rangers had a six man bullpen yesterday, and promptly burned through their long man, leaving the team with just five available relievers today. Texas decided to remedy the situation by bringing up reliever Spencer Patton, and optioning Michael Choice to AAA.
The decision to call Choice up yesterday was motivated by Shin-Soo Choo being limited due to his back issues, and Adam Rosales being sick. Choo is back in the lineup today, so that issue appears to be moot for now, although we will have to see if he can stay in the lineup.
