Adrian Beltre apparently is going nowhere.
The Rangers and the future Hall of Fame third baseman have crossed the remaining hurdles regarding a contract extension and are on the brink of finalizing a deal that would keep him in Texas through 2018, three major league sources acknowledged Friday.
There is still work to be done on finishing a deal, but it appeared that the major obstacles had been cleared and a deal could be announced within days. Financial terms were not available, but he is expected to receive a raise off his average annual salary of $16 million.
