SURPRISE, Ariz. -- The Rangers have signed veteran outfielder Ben Revere to a Triple-A contract with an invitation to Spring Training, according to Major League sources. The club has not confirmed the deal, which is pending a physical scheduled for Monday.
Revere was signed because the Rangers are short of outfielders at Triple-A Round Rock. Scott Heineman is expected to start the season on the disabled list while recovering from offseason surgery to repair a partially torn labrum in his left shoulder. Revere is not expected to be a candidate to make the Major League roster.
