Sources: Rangers bring back RHP Jesse Chavez on two-year deal

The Texas Rangers are bringing back right-handed reliever Jesse Chavez. Two sources confirmed multiple reports of the signing to SportsDay's Evan Grant.

Chavez began last season with Texas, but he was traded to the Chicago Cubs in July for Class A left-hander Tyler Thomas. Chavez was 5-2 with a 2.55 between the Cubs and Rangers last season.

SportsDay's Evan Grant listed Chavez as a pitcher to consider for the Rangers this offseason:

Probably will take more than the $1.5 million it cost the Rangers in 2018, but he's a versatile pitcher who can help a staff that is looking to tweak traditional roles.
