The Texas Rangers and Ian Desmond have agreed to terms on a 1-year contract pending a physical, a source tells MLB.com's Bill Ladson. The club has not confirmed the deal.
Desmond has played the vast majority of his career at shortstop, but according to a previous report, the Rangers might want to give him a shot in the outfield since Josh Hamilton will start the season on the DL.
