Some thoughts on the Pressly rumors

Related Topics: Ryan Pressly, Houston Astros

As you may have read, the Houston Astros are reportedly looking to move reliever Ryan Pressly, but are having difficulty doing so because Pressly has a no-trade clause that he is reluctant to waive. The Athletic had a story about the Astros engaging the Chicago Cubs on talks involving Pressly, without other teams also reportedly expressing interest, but Pressly’s no-trade clause being a holdup.

Some background...at the start of the 2022 season, the Astros signed Pressly to a two year, $30 million extension with a vesting option for 2025. Pressly met the appearances threshold for the option to vest, so he’s owed $14 million for the 2025 season.
