At first glance it seems insane, why would the Texas Rangers trade Joey Gallo? The 23-year-old is in the middle of his first full season in the MLB. His power is legit, but the rest of his game still needs improvement.
This season Gallo is batting .197 with 20 home runs and 40 RBI in 70 games. He’s currently tied for fifth in homers in the MLB, but also leads the league in strikeouts with 102. It’s hard to imagine Gallo being more than a home run or nothing type of player.
The Rangers could sell high on Gallo at the deadline and move him for younger, but more versatile players.
