Rangers pitcher Shawn Tolleson has been told he is no longer the team's closer, he said Wednesday.
He talked about the situation in the locker room.
Rangers manager Jeff Banister confirmed the change in an interview in The Fan Radio, 105.3 FM.
"I think going forward, we'll make a change in the interim," Banister said. "We're giving Tolly an opportunity to pitch in different situations and see if we can't recapture some of the conviction and execution that Tolly had for us last year. ... Now's the time for us to step up and let somebody else have an opportunity to close out baseball games.
