Texas Rangers reliever Shawn Kelley had surgery on Thursday to have lumps removed from his throat, per the beat guys on Twitter. Kelley, who has been on the injured list since May 6 with what has been described as an infection, indicated that the lumps will be biopsied, but he hopes to be activated on Monday.
This is good news for Kelley, who apparently was dealing with would could have been a very serious health situation, and the Rangers, who will be getting one of their top late inning relievers back.
