Sebastian Walcott, the top position prospect in the Texas Rangers’ minor league system, is being promoted to AA Frisco, per multiples reports.
Walcott, who just turned 18 in March, got an aggressive assignment to high-A Hickory to start the 2024 season. After struggling there for the first two months of the season, he started lighting it up once June came around, slashing .296/.351/.511 with 24 walks against 76 Ks in 313 plate appearances from June 1 forward. For the season, he has a .261/.342/.443 slash line for the Crawdads.
The Roughriders only have one week of the regular season remaining, but then will be in the Texas League playoffs.
