Texas Rangers starter Ross Detwiler has been placed on the 15 day disabled list with inflammation in his left shoulder, per the beat guys on Twitter.
Detwiler was scheduled to start in Boston on Wednesday. No announcement has been made as to who will make that start, although the leading candidates would appear to be long reliever Anthony Bass and Round Rock starting pitcher Anthony Ranaudo.
Detwiler has been kind of awful this season, with a 6.95 ERA and a 6.06 FIP. He's not struck out many batters, has walked too many, and has allowed a bunch of homers, which is pretty much a recipe for disaster.
