Texas Rangers Minor League Pitcher of the Year for 2024, Alejandro Rosario, will undergo elbow surgery and will miss the 2025 season, per Rangers president Chris Young (via the beats).
This is disappointing, though not altogether shocking, news. Rosario, the Rangers’ 5th round pick in 2023 out of the University of Miami, had a breakout 2024 campaign, putting up a 2.24 ERA in 88 innings between Down East and Hickory, with a 129:13 K:BB ratio. He is a consensus top 100 prospect in MLB, generally being slotted in the 40-80 range.
There were a couple of warning signs here, however.
