Ricky Vanasco, the 20 year old righthanded pitcher who has spent the season with the short-season A Spokane Indians, is moving up to the low-A Hickory Crawdads, per Levi Weaver on Twitter.
Vanasco has had a breakout 2019 campaign that included a scoreless inning in the NWL/PIO All Star Game. Vanasco has a 1.85 ERA in 39 IP over 9 starts, allowing opponents a 535 OPS. He has struck out 59 of the 156 batters he has faced while walking 22, and has allowed earned runs in just 2 of the 9 starts.
Vanasco was a 15th round pick of the Rangers in 2017, and has had limited innings the past two seasons, but was generating buzz as a guy to watch in extended spring.
