The Minneapolis Star Tribune reported on Tuesday that Minnesota bench coach Derek Shelton will interview with the Texas Rangers for their managerial opening.
Shelton, 48, has never managed in the majors. He managed three seasons in the New York Yankees' minor league system.
Shelton, a catcher for two seasons in the Yankees' organization, served as Cleveland's major league hitting coach from 2005-09. He had the same job with Tampa Bay from 2010-16. He was a quality control coach with Toronto for one season before joining the Twins.
Minnesota recently hired Rocco Baldelli as manager.
