ARLINGTON -- Right-handed reliever Tony Barnette was placed on the disabled list Wednesday, one day after exiting the Rangers' series opener against the Astros due to a right shoulder strain.
Barnette, who struck out one in 1 1/3 scoreless innings before leaving in the eighth inning Tuesday, is still awaiting the results of an MRI he underwent Wednesday.
"Unfortunate, sickening feeling any time you watch a player walk off the field," manager Jeff Banister said. "I feel for Tony in this situation, but obviously we'll get the results of the MRI and see where he's at and take the next steps.
