Texas Rangers relief pitcher Reed Garrett will be pitching for the Seibu Lions in 2020, according to an announcement Garrett made on Twitter.
Garrett, who turns 27 next week, is a righthanded reliever who was a 16th round pick out of VMI in 2014. He was taken in the Rule 5 Draft last year by the Detroit Tigers, but was returned to Texas midway through the season. Garrett was not added to the 40 man roster over the offseason by Texas, so this doesn’t impact the 40 man roster situation.
Garrett will make more money pitching in Japan than he would in the minors here in the States, and if he excels he will have teams vying for him when he decides to return to the U.
