CLEVELAND - Wow, tough business baseball can be.
For the first time in more than a month, Juan Centeno on Wednesday played in a game the Rangers lost. And afterward, he probably lost his job on the roster, too. The Rangers claimed 27-year-old catcher Carlos Perez from Atlanta and he will join the team Thursday.
Perez, formerly a big prospect with the Los Angeles Angels, and Centeno are both out of minor league options. Rangers GM Jon Daniels, who is going to be in the business of looking for controllable waiver-wire pickups all summer, said Perez will join the big league team.
