Rangers trade White to Reds

The Texas Rangers have traded pitcher Owen White to the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for cash considerations, the team announced today.

White was the Rangers’ second round draft pick in 2018 out of Carson High School in North Carolina. He didn’t pitch professionally until 2021, due to Tommy John surgery and then the pandemic, and he ended up injuring himself punching the mound in his first pro appearance in 2021 with Down East, resulting in two more months on the injured list.

When White got back on the mound, though, he looked very good, striking out double-digit batters in each of his final three starts of 2021 for Down East, then impressing in the Arizona Fall League.
