Rangers trade Ranaudo to White Sox for prospect

ARLINGTON -- The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has traded right-handed pitcher Anthony Ranaudo to the Chicago White Sox in exchange for right-handed pitcher Matt Ball.

Ball, 21, is in his fourth professional season after being selected in the 11th round of the 2013 June draft by the White Sox. He has gone 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA (8 ER/16.0 IP) in 10 relief appearances for Kannapolis in the South Atlantic League this season, posting 24 strikeouts against 5 walks. The San Diego area native was drafted out of Bonita Vista (Calif.) High School and had committed to Long Beach State University before signing with Chicago.
