Rangers trade Festa to the Cubs

The Texas Rangers have traded pitcher Matt Festa to the Chicago Cubs for cash considerations, the team announced today.

Festa was signed by the Rangers last summer after he was released by the New York Mets. He pitched for Round Rock for a few weeks, was released, was re-signed, pitched a little more for Round Rock, then was brought up to the majors, where he spent the rest of the season in the major league pen. He had a 4.37 ERA and 3.34 FIP in 22.2 innings over 18 appearances.

The 31 year old righthander first made the majors in 2018 with the Seattle Mariners, but has accumulated just barely over two years of service time, meaning that he is still not arbitration-eligible yet.
