The future is now for the Texas Rangers.
Due to multiple injuries in the starting rotation, the Rangers have decided to call up Taylor Hearn from Triple-A Nashville to make his first MLB start against the Seattle Mariners on Thursday.
Hearn, 24, was acquired from the Pittsburgh Pirates last summer in the deal for relief pitcher Keone Kela, and is part of the Rangers' wave of top pitching prospects that the organization hopes to build around in the years to come.
Hearn was 4-8 last season with 3.48 ERA in 129 innings over 24 starts at Double-A in the Pittsburgh and Rangers organizations.
