Baseball America, a respected publication, has dropped the Texas Rangers to No. 25 in its organizational talent rankings for 2019. It is the lowest spot for the Rangers since 2007, when they were No. 28.
This marks the third consecutive year for the Rangers to be lumped among the bottom third. From 2008-13, they ranked first twice and had an average placing of 4.1.
General manager Jon Daniels said the evaluation could rapidly change. The club added 17 prospects, mostly pitchers, in deals since July. The perception of the system should rise after those players go through a full season, Daniels said.
