ARLINGTON - Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus (strained hamstring) began a rehab assignment with Double-A Frisco Tuesday designed to get him ready for activation from the injured list on Saturday, the first day he is eligible. Andrus went hitless in three at-bats as the DH. He is expected to be the DH again on Wednesday.
A year ago, Andrus missed two months with a broken right arm, his first ever trip to the IL. He had a seven-game rehab assignment to get ready for his return, but acknowledged he never really got back in a good rhythm. His rhythm should not be disrupted nearly as much this time around.
