The Texas Rangers have signed starting pitcher Tyler Mahle to a two year deal, the team announced today. Per Jeff Passan, it guarantees Mahle $22 million, and includes $5 million in potential performances bonuses for 2025.
Mahle, 29, is a righthander who came up with the Cincinnati Reds. After a couple of seasons of being a more or less replacement level pitcher, he put up a 3.72 ERA in 227 innings between 2020 and 2021, accumulating a 5.9 bWAR. Mahle had a 4.40 ERA in 19 starts for Cincinnati in 2022 before being dealt to Minnesota at the trade deadline for a package that included Spencer Steer.
