The Texas Rangers have signed righthanded relief pitcher Hunter Strickland to a minor league contract with an invitation to the major league camp, the team announced today.
Strickland, 36, spent the first five seasons of his major league career with the San Francisco Giants, where Bruce Bochy was his manager. He has also spent time with the Seattle Mariners, Washington Nationals, New York Mets, Milwaukee Brewers, Tampa Bay Rays, and Cincinnati Reds. He was out of baseball for most of 2023 after putting up an 11.45 ERA in 12 appearances for the Reds’ AAA club before being released in May, 2023.
