The Rangers have announced the signing of righty Dillon Gee to a minor-league deal. He is still recovering from thoracic outlet surgery — as is fellow recent signee Tyson Ross.
While Texas may not be able to count on the 30-year-old, given his health concerns and recent performance dip, he ought to battle for a roster spot in camp. Assuming Ross isn’t quite ready for the start of the season, Gee could compete with pitchers such as A.J. Griffin, Chi Chi Gonzalez, and Nick Martinez for opportunities.
