The Texas Rangers have scratched left-hander Cole Hamels from Thursday night's scheduled start against the Chicago White Sox with a stiff neck.
Right-hander Doug Fister (1-4, 4.06 ERA) will get the start on regular rest against White Sox right-hander James Shields (1-4, 5.44).
Hamels (2-4, 3.48) seems to have turned around his early season struggles. He allowed one hit in six scoreless innings during a win against the Houston Astros on Friday, and is 1-1 with a 1.93 ERA in his last four starts.
