ARLINGTON -- The Rangers placed pitcher Andrew Cashner on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to Thursday, with a strained left oblique muscle. They recalled reliever Ernesto Frieri from Triple-A Round Rock.
The Rangers are hoping Cashner (3-6, 3.50 ERA) will miss just one or two starts. Frieri was 2-0 with seven saves and a 2.86 ERA in Triple-A. The Rangers have not announced a starter for Tuesday, but Nick Martinez is the likely candidate.
